Summary:

Food ingredient company seeks highly organized, multilingual individual to assist in the purchasing of raw materials.

The individual will assist in researching new vendors and sourcing ingredients from around the world. Prior experience a bonus.

Daily Duties:

Check emails (gmail) and review any vendor offers, updates etc.
Begin research on any products needed. Negotiate the best prices from vendors. (You should be good at negotiating prices).
Review any incoming purchase orders. Ensure they are arriving on time and that all documentation for customs clearance is available and organized.
Compare prices from other vendors to current prices.
Answer any stock questions that the sales department or customer service may have.

Your job is to ensure that we are getting the best prices for the raw materials we are buying. You should be a natural born buyer and negotiator. Never settle for the first offer.

You should also be organized. You should take notes on every interaction you have with colleagues and vendors. Super important to be more organized than even your manager.

Buying is just part of the job, you will need to collect technical documents on the products and ensure they meet our specifications and standards.

Main Responsibilities:

Liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement-related problems and issues
Research new vendors and negotiate prices of raw materials.
Manage and maintain a log of all prices, incoming purchases, lead times
Gather all vendor documents and organize them in our database and drive system (Google Drive)
Work with Quality Control department to ensure materials being purchased or samples meet their specification
Works directly with vendors to solve any quality issues, returns or delays in shipment

Technical Skills:

Google docs and sheets
Microsoft windows 10
Excel
Quickbooks/Sage 50 (to create Purchase orders)

Soft Skills:

Bilingual (Spanish Required)
Ability to work in an environment with strict deadlines
Ability to negotiate prices with vendors candidly and openly

Other Requirements:

1-3 years of Strategic Sourcing/purchasing, Negotiating, and Contracting;
**nutritional supplements industry or food industry is a major plus
References from previous employers will be requested

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
