Corbion is seeking a Chemical Analyst for our Blair, Nebraska facility. In this role, you will be responsible for the testing/approval of products (in-process and final), packaging supplies and raw materials. The ideal candidate is focused on safety first and is able to work independently. Duties and responsibilities may vary slightly at lactic acid and derivative production sites depending on instrumentation in the respective laboratory.
Essential Job Functions:

Review documentation and update procedures relating to operations, supply chain, & quality control/assurance, including receiving, testing, & shipping in order to ensure product quality, traceability, and customer satisfaction.

Analyze raw materials, in-process, final product, customer samples to ensure product quality standards are met.

Advise and support operations and supply chain to ensure right the first time and improve the customer quality index.

Support engineering and technology team regarding new product developments and process improvements while maintaining product integrity.

Complete OSHA required safety training to ensure safety knowledge is current and safety section of test methods is accurate.

Calibrate, monitor (with documentation), and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure communication of accurate testing results to internal and external customers.

Ensure availability of necessary supplies and chemicals.

Provide initial and update training to operations personnel to ensure the accuracy of in-process testing completed by technicians.

Write, validate, and update test methods to ensure test methods are accurate and up to date.

Maintain a clean work environment to prevent sample contamination and facilitate a safe and efficient environment.

Complete data entry in various software systems. Analyze and report data to quality management.

Execute QESH standards to ensure personal and product safety and quality.

Perform within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are compliant.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry or Biochemistry discipline.
- 2 years of experience conducting analysis in a lab environment including wet chemistry knowledge.

High Pressure Liquid Chromatography and Inductively Coupled Plasma experience is highly preferred.

Equipment (pH meter, colorimeter, automated titrator, refractometer, densitometer, autoclave, YSI, spectrophotometer, and Karl Fisher moisture) a plus.

Experience with various software systems for managing and entering data (i.e. Excel, sample manager, SAP, Master Control, etc.).

Emphasis on multi-tasking and prioritizing.
General Working Environment:
-
Chemical Analysts are required to work in a laboratory; with some tasks taking place inside of and outside of the plant.

Chemical Analysts will take samples of products, perform testing and advise on batch adjustments and will have to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves and uniform clothing.

Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between -15*F and 120*F depending on location and the activities involved.
