As a Dispatcher, you will play an essential role in this mission and be a part of our growing organization. Dispatchers are responsible for protecting patients, visitors, caregivers and hospital property by coordinating and addressing the Security Dispatch Office activities and responsibilities.
A caregiver in this position works 6:00PM – 6:00AM or 10:00PM—6:00AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Receive calls and requests for service and formulate correct responses.
- Regulate radio traffic by dispatching calls and relaying information.
- Answer questions and give directions to visitors, caregivers and patients.
- Monitor hospital activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations or unusual activity that may require Security involvement and responds appropriately.
- Implement procedures for emergency situations such as fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat, etc. as indicated in the Security Department Facility Orders and the M.C.I. Manual.
- Complete appropriate and accurate documentation for dispatch logs, equipment logs, helipad logs, lost and recovered property, patient valuables, occurrence reports, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of operation of access control systems.
- Maintain knowledge of all alarm systems and appropriate responses.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High school graduate
- Computer software proficiency
- Typing and data entry skills
- Clear speaking voice over a security radio system
- Ability to dispatch personnel in escalating situations
- Visual acuity to monitor security screens continuously
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Previous security and/or dispatch experience
