Position Summary:
The Director of Project Supply Chain will be responsible for overseeing the supply chain activities related to the procurement, inventory management, and logistics of materials and services for GIS Discovery. This role will ensure that all supply chain processes align with project delivery strategies and execution timelines. Build project teams to develop, implement and execute the supply chain plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing Management
- Develop and implement project purchasing strategies for materials and services that align with project requirements and budget constraints.
- Lead the sourcing & evaluation of key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and delivery performance.
- Ensure strategy alignment to Central purchasing strategy
- Monitor market trends and pricing to optimize purchasing decisions and mitigate risks.
- Make informed buying recommendations to project and leadership based on commercial evaluation and risk.
- Engage project controls team for input on vendor selection based on project cash flows.
- Engage appropriate technical stakeholders in the development of project requisitions.
- Coordinate vendor documentation review and approvals between vendor, project team and client as dictated per contracts.
- Coordinator vendor inspections between vendor, project team, and client as dictated per contractual technical specifications and internal processes.
- Proactively monitor supplier performance to meet project requirements.
- Ensure 3-way match process is executed in accordance with company and contract standards
- Inventory Management
- Design and Oversee inventory control strategies across the portfolio of projects to ensure appropriate material receipt, storage, installation, and preservation.
- Implement systems for tracking inventory levels, orders, and deliveries to maintain accurate inventory records
- Creation of inventory cost modeling for future demand tied to upcoming projects
- Contract Negotiation
- Lead contract negotiations alongside Discovery senior leadership and project leadership with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms that align with project goals and company policies.
- Review and approve contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contract performance and coordinate with project team, leadership and legal to resolve any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Demand Planning and Forecasting
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand current/future project demand and timelines.
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts to support procurement and inventory decisions.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends and adjust supply chain strategies accordingly.
- Ensure proper material allocation per project needs and delivery dates
- Utilize material reserves ahead of new order generation to ensure minimal project stock overbuying.
- Budget Management
- Develop and oversee the annual supply chain budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, project requirements, and cost efficiency targets.
- Monitor departmental spending and variance analysis, proactively identifying and addressing budget overruns or savings opportunities.
- Collaborate with finance and leadership teams to forecast operational expenses and support long-term strategic planning.
- Implement cost control measures and performance metrics to drive financial accountability across procurement, logistics, and inventory functions.
- Ensures cost optimization between materials and services against holistic project budget and portfolio budgets, coordinating closely with project controls and project management
- Project Delivery Strategy
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support the overall project delivery plan, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, construction, etc.) to align supply chain activities with project milestones.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs throughout the supply chain.
- Supply Contingency Planning
- Develop and implement contingency plans for critical supply chain components to ensure uninterrupted project delivery in case of disruptions.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential supply chain vulnerabilities and establish proactive strategies to minimize impact before purchase order placement and during the course of delivery.
- Collaborate with suppliers to create flexible agreements that can accommodate changes in demand or unforeseen circumstances.
- Risk Management
- Assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure uninterrupted project delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance and market conditions to proactively address potential disruptions.
- Establish contingency plans for critical supply chain components.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor the supply chain team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Set performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team objectives align with organizational goals.
- Develop plans and procedures to bridge gaps (if applicable) between corporate procurement process, systems, and project specific contractual obligations.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency in supply chain activities.
- Present supply chain strategies and key performance metrics to executive leadership and project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10-12 years of experience leading supply chain teams in support of capital projects
- Proven change agent experience in supply chain management within the EPC industry, specifically in renewable energy projects.
- Open to travel as required to support vendor qualification, establishing onsite project teams, and facilitate job duties.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in supply chain software and tools, as well as data analysis techniques.
- Experience utilizing ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, D365)

- Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office setting. The role may require occasional travel.
- Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
