Michigan Public Power Agency (“MPPA”) is looking for a dynamic individual to work in our energy market operations group as the Power Supply Analyst. This position will utilize data analysis tools to optimize power supply strategies and compliance with regulations. In support of these efforts, the Power Supply Analyst will be required to produce spreadsheets, studies and reports to communicate business benefits under the supervision of the Manager of Power Supply. This position provides support and back up responsibilities for several state and federal regulatory compliance Service Projects.
In this role, you will:
- Using applicable resource applications and other developed analytical tools, provide power supply portfolio analysis as required and requested.
- Responsible for the production and accuracy of all reporting of Member positions in accordance with MPPA policies.
- Provide ideas and recommendations to improve data visualizations and summaries for reporting, presentation or other forms of communication.
- Work closely with the other staff to maintain and increase knowledge in various technical areas of the power industry to support specific Member’s requests as required
- Develop and maintain reports in Business Intelligence Software system as required
- Utilize data analytics tools to evaluate market trends, assess contract performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- In coordination with other MPPA staff, ensure models and applications are maintained through testing and use
Required/Preferred Skills, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in a technical field; or equivalent work experience
- Advanced computer applications skills including database and spreadsheet applications
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and economic evaluation skills
- Electric industry and energy market experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Microsoft Office Application proficiency
